Jesus, You Take Over
(The Act of Surrender to Jesus)
ABOUT THIS PRAYER
The Act of Surrender to Jesus is one of the many messages the Servant of God Don Dolindo Ruotolo (1882–1970) of Naples received from Jesus. He was a priest, theologian, and mystic. True to his name ‘Dolindo’ (derived from the Italian word Dolore which means pain, sorrow, grief, ache, distress, woe) his life was ridden with suffering, rejection, and humiliation.
The Act of Surrender to Jesus is a wonderful message in which Jesus invites us to entirely depend on him and to trust him. In difficult times it seems natural for us to try to grapple with what we are going through. Brooding over the problem that is oppressing us. Fear, worry and anxiety almost consume us.
Jesus offers the solution: trust only in him. He tells us to close our eyes, calm the soul, and place our full faith in him: by this act of love and trust towards him, we honor him. That moves him, and it impels him to resolve our problems, both spiritual and temporal. Those who abandon themselves to Jesus will see miracles in their life.

JESUS SAID:
Day 1
Why do you confuse yourselves by worrying? Leave your cares to me and everything will be resolved. I tell you the truth, that every act of true and complete dependence, blind surrender, to me results in what you desire and settles all your problems and pains.
Day 2
If you continue with anxiety and despair, it means that you are not depending on me. You are just offering anxious prayers and asking me to change your worries into prayers.
Dependence on me means to peacefully shut the soul, to turn away from thoughts about your problem and instead to submit yourself to me entirely so that I alone think and act on your situation. Just say: “Jesus, you take over”.
Day 3
Worry, anxiety, and troubling thoughts about the consequences of your difficulty goes against dependence. Close your eyes and let yourself be carried away by the stream of my grace. Close your eyes and let me work. Close your eyes and think only about the present moment, turn off the thought about the future as you would turn away from temptation.
Day 4
Rest in me, believe in my goodness and I promise by my love when you tell me with this attitude, “Jesus, you take over”, I will take over fully. I will console you. I will set you free. And I will lead you. And if I take you by a different way than the one you expect, I will instruct you, I will carry you in my arms, I will take you through… like a child asleep in the mother’s arms crossing the river to the other side.
Day 5
All the great torments and pains that you experience are because you keep struggling to figure out for yourself the solutions to your problems and concerns.
There are many things I do for the soul, both for spiritual and temporal needs, when you turn to me saying “Jesus, you take over”.
Day 6
Close your eyes and be calm! When in trouble you pray for my help, but really you are praying that I do as you want. You don’t turn to me, but you want me to bend to your wishes. A sick person should ask the doctor for treatment, and not suggest the treatment. Don’t do this.
When you pray, do as I teach you in the Our Father: “Hallowed be your name“, that is, let YOU be glorified in this need of mine. “Your kingdom come“, that is, everything that is happening to me and in the world contributes to YOUR kingdom. “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven“, that is, do as YOU see fit for all my eternal and temporal needs.
Day 7
If you truthfully tell me “Your will, be done“, it is the same as saying “Jesus, you take over”. I intervene with all my power and resolve the most impossible situations.
Day 8
Does it appear to you that the problem is not being reduced? Don’t worry. Close your eyes and tell me with confidence: “Your will be done, Jesus, you take over”. Then I will take over and get involved like a doctor and perform miracles as needed.
Does it look like the situation is getting worse? Don’t get upset, close your eyes, and say: “Jesus, you take over”. I tell you that I will take over and that there is no more powerful medicine than my intervention of love.
Day 9
I only take over when you close your eyes. When you see things get complicated, say with an undistracted soul, “Jesus, you take over”. A thousand prayers cannot equal one single act of surrender, remember this well. Do this and you will see great, continuous, and silent miracles. I promise you by my love!
